6 Nights Maun to Khwai
An overland safari from Maun through the edge of the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve and Khwai Community Area, combining Delta exploration with classic game viewing and a night drive in Khwai.
Overview
This seven-day (six-night) safari begins in Maun and travels through multiple northern Botswana ecosystems, including the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve and Khwai.
The itinerary combines mokoro exploration, extended game drives, a boating excursion in Moremi and a dedicated night drive in Khwai before concluding either at Khwai airstrip or returning to Maun.
Itinerary Summary
Day 1: Maun to Daonara (Okavango)
Departure from Maun at approximately 15:00 for a two-hour drive to the Daonara area on the eastern side of the Okavango. Arrival in the late afternoon at a riverside campsite. Dinner is served under the stars.
Day 2: Okavango Delta Excursion
Early departure for a mokoro excursion deep into the Delta, including game drives, water-based exploration and a guided island walk. Picnic lunch and afternoon return to camp.
Day 3: Moremi Game Reserve
Early transfer into Moremi via South Gate. Full day game viewing en route to the Xakanaxa area.
Day 4: Moremi with Boating
Full day game viewing combined with a two-hour boating excursion from Xakanaxa.
Day 5: Moremi to Khwai
Morning departure with game viewing en route to Khwai Community Area.
Day 6: Khwai (Including Night Drive)
Morning game drive followed by afternoon relaxation. Late afternoon departure for a game drive including sunset and a short night drive.
Day 7: Departure
Early morning game drive followed by brunch in camp.
Guests may depart from Khwai airstrip at approximately 10:30 (flight times permitting), or return by road to Maun, arriving between 16:00 and 17:00.
Accommodation & Camp Style
Accommodation throughout the safari is in en-suite meru-style tents set up ahead of your arrival at each location.
Each tent includes a comfortable bedroll with linen on stretchers, rugs, a bedside table with lantern, and an attached private bathroom enclosure with shower and toilet.
Camps are fully serviced, with staff preparing meals and maintaining camp while you are on activities.
